The Environmental Protection team are responsible for assessing applications, granting permits and enforcing the conditions of permits for a diverse range of industrial installations such as animal feed production, use of bulk cement, solvent use etc. In addition the Department maintains a public register containing information in relation to the installations regulated by Strabane District Council and the Environment & Heritage Service. All prescribed installations must make an application and pay the required fee (currently £1355) to operate and also pay an annual subsistence charge (currently £845). Some installations such as dry cleaners and petrol stations can avail of reduced fees of £130 for making an application and their annual subsistence.
