Halloween Juggling Workshops

The arts sector in Strabane town was buzzing on Saturday with the autumn arts programme in full flow .While the Johnny Crampsie festival attracted the music buffs; budding photographers were immersed in honing their skills under the expertise guidance of the photographic company Belfast Exposed.

WHAT’S ON IN THE ARTS:
With the start of 2009, Strabane District Council Arts Dept. is currently working in partnership with Creative Youth Partnership (WELB) and North West Regional College Drama Dept and local primary schools to develop a Junior Drama Festival in the district.
Aimed at Primary 7 children, it is hoped that this project will encourage their interest in story writing; story telling and ultimately, performance on stage with empathise on the children’s ideas of their environment.
This is a first for Strabane District and we hope that participating schools will gain from meeting and working along side the NWRC drama dept. and Alley theatre staff during productions brings new skills back to their individual schools for future projects.

Santa’s Mystery Travel Machine

Santa made a surprise visit to Strabane Council offices on Tuesday 11th November to take delivery of his new mode of transport for this year’s Christmas light switch on which will take place on Saturday 22nd November at 4.30pm.

Shape Shifter & Chaos in Autumn Arts
Launching Strabane District Council’s autumn celebration of arts and crafts in the Alley Arts Centre is the stunning sculptural works in woven wire, by the sculptor Anne Quigley from Claudy. This is complimented by the Sligo artist Heidi Wickham who is known for her thought provoking charcoal visuals drawn from myths and folklore.
