Coat Of Arms

The Strabane Coat of Arms depicts the ferry across the River Mourne established on 26 July 1629, by the Hamilton family who were the landlords of the district.
The Castles in the background denote the pre-plantation O'Neill Castle and two subsequent post-Plantation Castles erected by the Hamiltons.
The ferry was used for transporting people and livestock to and from the south bank of the river opposite the town. The motto on the town Coat of Arms "Concordia Crescit" means "Let Goodwill Increase".
